We are looking for full-time Junior Software Engineers to join our team of 100+ employees in San Diego, CA. In our collaborative, solution-based environment, you will build creative web services, applications, and databases alongside software experts. Annual Salary: $83,000 - $104,000. The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) job responsibilities, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as alignment with market data.

Position Classification and schedule: This is a full-time, exempt position based in San Diego, CA. You will be required to work at the Moebius office (zip code 92130) or at the SIPR Lab on Naval Base Point Loma two to three times per week, or as needed for client support, demonstrations, meetings, and related activities.

Position Summary: We are seeking a motivated Junior Software Engineer to join our development team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Core Java, excellent problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team. A passion for building robust, scalable applications and a willingness to learn new technologies are essential for success in this role.


Qualified applicants will be emailed a Java technical assessment designed by Moebius to complete and submit for interview consideration.

Duties:
  • Unit-level and system-level testing.
  • Ability to navigate a code base to find a class with little guidance.
  • Understanding of basic git commands and version control.
  • Use Agile-based development techniques.
  • Ability to perform “peer reviews.”
  • Ability to design/update features based on client feedback.
  • Develop capabilities and design code with “end user” needs in mind.
  • Object-oriented design/development or functional design/development. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
Key requirements and technologies:
  • Core Java (Java 8+)
  • Experience with Java Applications servers such as JBoss, Tomcat
  • Familiarity with RESTful API development using Java
  • Knowledge of Java testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, Mockito)
  • Experience with build tools (Maven)
  • Basic understanding of containerization using Docker
  • Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git
  • Knowledge of SQL and experience with databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Experience with Java Persistence API (JPA) and Hibernate
  • Familiarity with messaging systems (ActiveMQ, Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ)
  • Experience with front-end technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, React)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)
  • Familiarity with the Linux command line
Required Qualifications:
  • U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Secret-level security clearance are required.
  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software development, engineering, information technology, or a related technical discipline is required.
  • A minimum of 0 2 years of professional experience in software engineering, development, deployment, or sustainment of software-intensive systems and technologies is required.
  • A minimum of 0 – 2 years of professional experience with Core Java (Java 8+), Java applications servers JBoss, Tomcat, RESTful API development, Java testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, Mockito), Maven, PostgreSQL or MySQL for database management, Docker, Git, Java Persistence API (JPA), messaging systems (ActiveMQ, Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) or equivalent technologies are preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Apps and the Linux command line is a plus.
  • Security+ and Linux+ certifications must be obtained and maintained.
  • While some flexibility is available, employees generally work 40 hours per week during core hours from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. PST.
  • Successfully complete a Moebius-designed Java assessment and participate in two virtual technical interviews.
